METRO WATER DISTRICT is seeking candidates to fill a Customer Service/Billing Supervisor position.  The ideal candidate must exercise independent judgment, professionalism, initiative, and be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team.

Qualifications and Experience:

Under general direction of the CFO, the Customer Service/Billing Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, administers, supervises, and participates in the operations and activities of the customer service and billing team.  Work includes: managing, coordinating, and determining priorities of work load, trianing employees, monitoring levels of resources, establishing time lines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions.  Writing, reviewing and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

Knowledge of:

  • Supervision techniques and practices.
  • Customer problem/complaint resolution principles and practices.
  • Public relations and customer service skills and techniques.
  • Personal computer and related software.

Skilled in:

  • Interpreting and applying relevant District, state, and federal statutes, ordinances, codes, rules, and regulations governing utility billing and customer service.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Oral and written communication.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships.

Ability to:

  • Direct, manage, plan, and lay out the objectives of the team for employees.
  • Communicate and carry out the goals and objectives of the team.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with the public and other employees.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.  Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in customer service, accounts receivable, and billing including two (2) years at a supervisory level; OR and equivalent combination of education and experience.

A leaking toilet wastes water. Put a little food coloring in your toilet tank. If, without flushing, the coloring appears in the bowl, you have a leak. Adjust or replace the flush valve or call a plumber.
